Signs of Downtown Hamilton Walking Tour

May 10, 2008

The layers of our city’s history goes further than the bricks and mortar of our architectural elements. Signs of all kinds line our main streets flashing, pointing and marking the businesses that have long vanished, yet their creative identities remain. From neon to hand painted, amateur to professional, Pagoda Chop Suey to Zack’s Furniture – the signs of downtown Hamiton are an opportunity to see our city’s illustrated design past.

Please join us on Sunday, May 25 as we walk from one end of the downtown to the other in search of signs, designs and communication from the past. Tour starts at 1 p.m. in front of Mixed Media, 174 James Street North and ends at Hamilton History+HERitage for coffee and discussion.
